Scheme of free seed and fertilizer supply to 6000 small and marginal farmers has been taken up to increase cultivation and production of Ufshi Aush crops during Kharip-1/2024-25 season in FY 2023-24.

Our achievements

Among the significant cropping patterns are (a) Boro-fallen-planted crop-43% (b) Fallen-fallen-planted crop-11% (c) Dal-fallen-planted crop-12%. Various programs have already been undertaken to bring the seasonally uncultivated land under crops.


The area cultivated in the district is Aman 66525 ha, Aush 10410 ha, Boro 30270 ha, Pulses 12877 ha, Winter vegetables 5214, Summer vegetables 2255 ha, Oil crops 3093 ha, Potato 329 ha, Mr potato 605 ha. Apart from this some other non-major/obsolete crops are cultivated in small amount of land.


Various technology extension activities including formal and informal farmer training, motivational meetings, group and individual discussions, field days, farmer gatherings are being implemented as usual to continue the production of rice and other crops.


Total families are 3 lakh 31 thousand 384. 52% of the total families or 1 lakh 72 thousand 320 agricultural families, 48% or 1 lakh 59 thousand 64 non-agricultural families. Literacy rate in the district is 64%. A significant number of people in the district are employed abroad, there are many people working in various government and private institutions in different areas of the country including Dhaka, for this Feni district is economically rich. The district town of Feni is a busy city and a modern commercial center as well. Population below poverty line is negligible. A large number of poor people from different remote/backward areas of the country are working as agricultural laborers in the district almost throughout the year and are actively involved in various occupations to keep the economic activities of the district active and prosperous. At present the socio-economic condition of the district is good.
